Website and care
What happens after you say yes.
The preview is free and without obligation. This page describes what comes after: how your website is looked after, where it runs, who answers, what it costs — and how you leave, if you want to.
Day to day
Mostly, you notice care by nothing happening.
A looked-after website is rarely any work. It's online, it's current, and if something is wrong, someone notices — ideally before you do. So that you still know what you're paying for, here are the four things that actually happen.
- Running it.
- Your website is reachable without you renewing, unlocking or transferring anything. The certificate for the encrypted connection renews itself before it expires — the most common reason small websites suddenly show a warning.
- Updates.
- We apply security updates regularly and to a plan, not once something breaks. Afterwards we look over the site. We only need to write to you if something visible changes for you.
- Backups.
- Your website is backed up every day — and in a way you can genuinely restore from. When the last backup ran is in your customer area, so you don't have to take our word for it.
- Faults.
- Then we tell you what happened, what is safe, and what happens next — in that order, in whole sentences.
Continuously
On a schedule
Daily
If something does go wrong
All of it is in the monthly price. There is no line item that arrives afterwards.
The setup
Where your website lives.
You don't rent a server and you don't administer anything. Your website runs on infrastructure we operate and pay for, in a data centre — looked after as part of the arrangement, not as an extra line.
The setup, in short
- Location
- Germany
- Connection
- HTTPS, renewed automatically
- Backups
- daily
- Updates
- regularly, to a plan
- Customer area
- app.thesoft.world
- Electricity
- from renewable sources
There is no availability figure here, and there won't be one. Anyone who states one has to measure it and hold to it, and you'd have to be able to judge it. What we show instead is the actual state of your website — any time, in your customer area.
Changes and answers
You write, I change it.
Most changes to a small website are small: a price, a date, a sentence, a new photo of the last job. You don't need to learn a content system or arrange a meeting for that. You write in your own words, I do it, and I tell you when it's live.
- Included
- Changing text, updating prices and opening hours, swapping photos, correcting contact details and named contacts, describing a service more fully, putting a seasonal notice up and taking it down again.
- We tell you first
- An online shop, appointment booking, larger applications, a new area that has to be built. Where exactly the line falls, we settle beforehand, with a price — never afterwards, with an invoice.
- Who answers
- I do. There's no ticket number and no queue, because there's nobody between us. You write to an address I sit behind: michael@thesoft.world
Usually I answer the same day, at the latest the next working day.
Moving in
You're not starting from nothing.
Almost nobody arrives without a history. Usually there's a website that has aged, a domain with a provider nobody quite remembers, and a piece of paper with login details on it somewhere. Both are solvable, and both are our work, not yours.
- If you already have a website
- It stays online as long as you want it to. We build alongside it, not over it: your current site keeps running while you look at the preview, and while we finish building. The switch happens on a day you know in advance. Content you want to keep, we bring across; what can go, you decide.
- If you already have a domain
- Then you keep it. A domain doesn't have to move for the website to move — often changing one record is enough, and you stay the registered holder with your current provider. If you'd rather bring the contract to us, that works too, in your name and not in ours.
- If you don't have one yet
- Then we pick one together and register it in your name. The registry charges an annual fee for it; it isn't part of the monthly price, and we tell you the amount beforehand.
Customer area
Check without having to ask.
An account in your customer area is part of being looked after. It shows your website as it looks right now, whether it's reachable, when it last changed and when it was last backed up. That's all of it — deliberately.
What you won't find there
No visitor statistics you didn't ask for, no offers, no scores, and no setting that takes your website offline by accident.
You don't need an account for the preview. Access is part of the care, not part of the enquiry.

Prices
Two numbers: building and running it.
990 € once, to build your website.
That covers the concept, design, build, and launch of your website.
12,99 € a month, to run and maintain it afterwards.
That covers running it, the backups, the updates, small changes, the customer area, and one person to ask.
- Why there are no tiers
- Tiers solve a problem you don't have: you'd have to guess in advance how much care you're going to need. If you write three times one month and not at all the next, the monthly price is the same.
- When you get your numbers
- Alongside the preview, in writing, with everything that's included. Nothing gets built before that. There's no cheap first month that goes up afterwards.
- What costs extra
- The annual domain fee, an online shop, larger applications. We tell you the amount before we start.
All amounts include VAT at the statutory rate.
If you leave
The door opens both ways.
Plenty of the people who write to us have had someone who was gone one day — or a domain that turned out to belong to somebody else. So this is set out at length, and not in the small print.
- The notice
- Hosting can be cancelled monthly, in writing. There's no minimum term, and no cancellation form to hunt for.
- The domain
- It's registered in your name and stays that way. If you go, it goes with you — to your new provider or straight to you. We don't hold on to it.
- The content
- Text, photos and your website's data come to you in a common format, ready to take.
- The website itself
- It runs on ordinary technology any other agency can take over. We don't build anything in that only works here.
- The move
- We support the switch as far as can reasonably be expected: access, data, timing, and someone reachable while the changeover is running.
- And if I stop
- With a one-person business, that's a fair question. I'll give you notice in good time, help with the move, and until then everything here holds.
Leaving isn't a dispute. It's the reason anyone dares to start.
See what you'd get, first.
The preview first, the decision after. Free, no obligation, no account.
